The Bog For Christmas!!

The Bog For Christmas!!

After probably 20+ years the family decided to head to Scotland for Christmas. Luckily we (the whole family, parents and adult children) were able to travel together and stay at Granny’s. It’s been so long some of the changes were actually surprising. First and foremost I should point out that we are currently in “the Bog” where Glenda’s brother’s family have there home. Formally “The Bog of Cullicudden”. It actually appears on the map under that name. But as you’ll see below it is very beautiful (sometimes).

So back in the Muir-of-Ord the changes we saw immediately were more lights. You would see a string of bright coloured lights here and there years ago, but now there are houses decked out lights top to bottom. Also the “little” community of Muir-of-Ord has decorative lighting on the street light poles and in the square. That was new to us. So, for what it’s worth, here’s four Floridians in the Highlands & Islands of Scotland for a Scottish Christmas.

So it was off to the Bog for Christmas day. Games, more games, presents, games and then some games. Below is the view from the house. It’s a view you never get tired of seeing. Most of the time these fields are filled with sheep or cattle. It’s really beautiful The whole area is called “The Black Isle” because the soil is so fertile.

I don’t think the family would appreciate being featured here so I left the celebration out, but on Boxing Day we all were presented with acrylic paint, canvases and brushes and we watched Bob Ross episodes and did some painting. Quite the experience and exposed evidence of real talent. The dog, Bramble, was unimpressed. But I was really impressed, these are hangable.

Here’s some pics from the walks on Boxing Day.

And lastly, for this offering, the next day the weather turned. Wind, rain and all that makes Scotland the green place it is.
