European Meander Day 3 Tempelhof

It’s a Saturday and as I remember back 45 years ago when I lived here this is a day to take a walk in the park. Germans are very happy to use their green spaces and today is no different. Lovely cool weather, I have no idea what this park is called. We even saw a couple walking their cats, or was it the cats walking their humans (not sure).

Later in the morning we headed over to Tempelhof Airport, now a historic site, so our two marathoners could pick up their bibs etc. for the race tomorrow. I’ve always wanted to go to Tempelhof, the airport that supported the great airlift of 1948. I don’t know that much about it, but it’s fascinating to walk in and see an airport from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s still maintained. Not sure when it was closed. I can see why it would be a perfect venue for things like the marathon expo.

But this was the most important part of the day –
